Chicken (broilers).

INDICATIONS FOR USE, SPECIFYING THE TARGET SPECIES
For the treatment of infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to
the combination of
Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim in the digestive system, lungs,
uro-genital system in broilers.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
•
Kidney and liver disorders or blood dyscrasia.
•
Hypersensitivity for trimethoprim and/or sulfonamides or to any of the
excipients listed in
section 6.1.
4.4
SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR EACH TARGET SPECIES
Sick animals exhibit a different drinking pattern and, therefore,
should receive drugs through parental
administration.
4.5
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Special precautions for use in animals
Use of the product should be based on culture and sensitivitytests of
micro-organisms from diseased
cases on farm. If this is not possible, therapy should be based on
local (regional, farm level)
epidemiological information about susceptibility of the target
bacteria.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the
veterinary medicinal product to
animals
•
Because of sensitization and contact dermatitis, when applying direct
skin contact should be
avoided. Therefore gloves must be worn.
•
People with known hypersensitivity to trimethoprim or sulphonamides
should administer the
veterinary medicinal product with caution.
4.6
ADVERSE REACTIONS (FREQUENCY AND SERIOUSNESS)
•
In poultry the following adverse reactions, among others, are
reported: reduced water and
food consumption (reductions of ± 25% are not uncommon during
therapy), growth retarding,
a rough plumage, and lethargy.
