COMPOSITION
_1 vial of active ingredient contains:_
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Chorionic Gonadotropin 5000 I.U.
Excipients: Lactose monohydrate
_Solvent: _1 ml of physiological solution (0.9% NaCl)_._
PROPERTIES/EFFECTS
Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is the active ingredient of Choriomon and
is secreted by the placenta. It is
extracted from pregnant women’s urine. Its biological activity is
largely similar to that of the luteinizing
hormone (LH), which is produced by the anterior lobe of the pituitary
gland and has a considerably longer
half-life, thus allowing a prolonged activity. HCG is also known as
ICSH_. _In women, Choriomon stimulates
the production of oestradiol and progesterone and acts on the final
phase of the follicle maturation, promotes
its rupture and the secretion of oestrogens, thus improving the
function of the corpus luteum.
In men, Choriomon stimulates the Leydig’s interstitial cells and
consequently the secretion of androgens.
In children affected by cryptorchidism it induces the maturation of
the underdeveloped testicles, the growth
of the too short spermatic cord and the descent of the testicle.
Choriomon is usually administered in
concomitance with HMG or FSH, either successively (after HMG or FSH)
in women with fertility problems, or
simultaneously (with HMG) in men with fertility problems. There is no
evidence that HCG acts either on the
lipidic metabolism, or on the distribution of adipose tissues or that
it has an influence on appetite.
Consequently, Choriomon has no indications concerning weight control.
PHARMACOKINETICS
In case of i.m. administration of Chorionic Gonadotropin, maximum HCG
plasma levels are reached
approximately after 2 to 6 hours (depending on the administered
dosage).
Chorionic Gonadotropin is eliminated in 2 phases. The biological
half-life of the first phase is approximately
of 8 to 12 hours, whereas that of the second phase (slower) is of 23
to 37 hours. HCG is metabolized in
kidneys at a rate of 80 to 90%. Due to its slow elimination , HCG may

υποπλασία ωοθηκών, μηνομητρορραγία,
επαναλαμβανόμενες
αποβολές, κίνδυνος αποβολών,
υπογονιμότητα λόγω ανωορρηξίας ,
στειρότητα λόγω αποτυχίας ωογένεσης.
