PHOENIX KETAMINE INJECTION
ACTIVE INGREDIENT:
100 mg/mL KETAMINE (as hydrochloride)
For induction of anaesthesia in cats, dogs and horses.
[20 mL] [50 mL]

INDICATIONS:
A dissociative anaesthetic which may be used in conjunction with a
tranquiliser to induce
anaesthesia in cats, dogs and horses.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
CATS:
Alone:
5.0 – 6.0 mg/kg bodyweight ketamine, by intravenous injection
15 – 20 mg/kg bodyweight ketamine, by intramuscular injection
In combination:
11 – 22 mg/kg bodyweight ketamine preceded by 0.55 – 1.1 mg/kg
bodyweight xylazine
DOGS:
2.2 mg/kg bodyweight xylazine intramuscularly followed 10 – 15
minutes
later by 11 mg/kg bodyweight ketamine intravenously to effect.
HORSES:
Sedate with xylazine using 1.1 mg/kg bodyweight intravenously or 2.2
mg/kg
bodyweight intramuscularly and await full sedative effect. For
induction of
analgesia and light anaesthesia, give 2.2 mg/kg bodyweight ketamine
intravenously.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Animals that have exhibited prior hypersensitivity to ketamine.
Animals suffering from renal and/or hepatic insufficiency.
Animals with increased CSF pressure / head trauma.
WITHHOLDING PERIOD:
MEAT: HORSES: 7 DAYS
