A hand-held surgical instrument used during orthopaedic surgery either manually or as a computer-assisted surgery (CAS) device for the implantation of a prosthesis, to help in the navigation/placement of instruments or the prosthesis. It can be used for the following applications: 1) to hold/align/fix bone preparation instruments (e.g., a cutting block); 2) to provide relative position landmarks for measuring devices (e.g., sensors); 3) to ascertain correct spatial orientation; 4) as a standardized interface between implant components; 5) to retain an implant or implant component in position during cementing; or 6) to help facilitate correct foot/leg alignment. This is a reusable device.
