What Contac Non Drowsy does Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief Tablets provide relief from the symptoms of colds and flu including nasal congestion, sinus pain, pressure and congestion, headaches, fever, sore throat, aches and pains. The tablets contain paracetamol which is a pain killer and pseudoephedrine which is a decongestant. 2. Check before you take Contac Non Drowsy DO NOT TAKE CONTAC NON DROWSY: IF YOU HAVE EVER HAD AN ALLERGIC REACTION to pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, paracetamol or to any of the other ingredients (listed in Section 6). • If you have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE or HEART DISEASE. • If you have KIDNEY PROBLEMS. • If you have an OVERACTIVE THYROID GLAND, ENLARGED PROSTATE, DIABETES, GLAUCOMA or PHAEOCHROMOCYTOMA (tumour of the adrenal gland). • If you are taking APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS or STIMULANT DRUGS called amphetamines (sometimes used to treat ADHD). • If you have taken MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs) e.g. moclobemide, prescribed for DEPRESSION in the LAST TWO WEEKS. • If you are taking medicines to control your BLOOD PRESSURE (e.g. beta blockers like atenolol). DO NOT TAKE WITH ANY OTHER PARACETAMOL-CONTAINING PRODUCTS. DO NOT TAKE WITH ANY OTHER FLU, COLD OR DECONGESTANT PRODUCT. SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief Tablets 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION Each Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief Tablet contains Paracetamol 500 mg and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg. For excipients see Section 6.1 3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM FORM: Film coated tablet. DESCRIPTION: Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief is a bilayer (white/blue) film coated capsule shaped tablet. The tablet is debossed with the number 2 in a circle on one face. 4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief is a mild to moderate analgesic, antipyretic and decongestant. Contac Non Drowsy Dual Relief is recommended for the relief from the symptoms of colds and flu including: • Nasal congestion • Sore throat pain • Headache • Body aches and pains • Fever • Sinus symptoms e.g. sinus pain, pressure and congestion 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION For oral use. Adults, including the elderly and children 16 years and over: Two tablets every four to six hours, to be taken orally. The dose should not be repeated more frequently than every four hours nor should more than three doses be given in any 24 hour period. Minimum dosing interval: 4 hours. Do not exceed the stated dose. Should not be used with other paracetamol-containing or decongestant products. Users should be advised to seek medical advice if symptoms persist for more than 7 days. Not to be used in children under 16 years of age. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS This product is contraindicated in patients. • With a previous history of hypersenstivity to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine or excipients • With cardiovascular disease including hypertension or severe coronary artery disease.Who are receiving other sympoathomimetics (such as decongestants, appetite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychosimulants) • With severe renal impairment, hyperthyroidism, prostatic enlargement, diabetes, glaucoma or phaeochromocytoma, • Who are receiving Monoamine O Läs hela dokumentet
