COMPOSITION:
PULMOTIL AC contains tilmicosin aqueous equivalent to tilmicosin 250
mg/ml. Also contains disodium
edetate 0, 2 % m/v (anti-oxidant synergist) and propyl gallate 0, 02 %
m/v (anti-oxidant).
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
C 17.1.4 Antimicrobials - Antibacterials: Macrolides, lincosamides and
Pleuromutulins
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Tilmicosin has an
_in vitro _
antimicrobial spectrum that is predominantly Gram-positive with
activity against
certain Gram-negative micro-organisms.
Activity against
_Mycop/asma _
species has also been detected.
Susceptible micro-organisms include:
_Mycop/asma gal/isepticum _
_Mycop/asma synoviae _
_Ornithobacterium rhinotrachea/e _
_Pasteurella _
spp.
_In vitro _
sensitivity does not necessarily imply
_in vivo _
activity.
INDICATIONS:
PULMOTIL AC is indicated for the treatment and control of respiratory
infections in fowls associated with
_Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae _
and other organisms sensitive to tilmicosin.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
None.
WARNINGS:
Water containing PULMOTIL AC must be withdrawn from fowls 12 days
prior to slaughter of treated fowls.
For oral use in fowls only.
Do not administer undiluted.
Medicated drinking water must be freshly prepared every 24 hours and
is stable when stored below 30 °C
When mixing and handling PULMOTIL AC, use a dust mask.
Operators should wash contaminated parts
thoroughly with soap and water if skin contact occurs.
If accidental eye contact occurs, immediately rinse
thoroughly with water.
If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Not for use in layers.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Dilute in drinking water at the rate of 30 ml PULMOTIL AC per 100
litres drinking water.
This provides for 75
mg tilmicosin per litre of drinking water. Continue treatment for 3
days. This oral dosing regimen equates to
a daily dose of approximately 15 - 20 mg tilmicosin per kilogram body
mass.
