ChromID Strepto B Agar (STRB) is a Selective chromogenic medium for the screening of group B streptococci (S. agalactiae). This selective chromogenic medium is intended for the screening of S. agalactiae carriage in pregnant women specimens. S. agalactiae can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in newborns. Detection of S. agalactiae carriage in pregnant women allows antimicrobial prophylaxis to be administered at the time of delivery to prevent perinatal infections.
