TRIFER DROPS 50MG/ML _ _ _DESCRIPTION AND COMPOSITION: _ Brownish black coloured chocolate flavoured syrup with sweet taste and pleasant odour. Each ml contains: Iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex 160mg is equivalent to elemental Iron 50.00mg; in a flavoured syrupy base. _PHARMACODYNAMICS: _ The Iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex (IPC) is a water – soluble iron oxider, macromolecular complex of polynuclear iron (III) hydroxide and partially hydrolyzed dextrin (polymaltose). The polynuclear iron (III) hydroxide cores are superficially surrounded by a number of non-covalently bound polymaltose molecules resulting in an overall complex molecular mass of approximately 52,300 Daltons. This molecule is so large that diffusion through the membrane of the mucosa is about 40 times smaller than the one for the hexaquo-iron (II) unity. The complex is stable and does not cause release of ionic iron under physiological conditions. The iron in the polynuclear “cores” is bound in a similar structure as in the case of physiologically occurring ferritin. Due to these chemical and pharmacological properties, IPC is suitable for oral iron substitution. Iron polymaltose complex is a polysaccharide-iron complex, which is novel iron prepration used in the treatment of Iron deficiency anaemia. Iron, an essential constituent of the body, is necessary for haemoglobin formation and for the oxidative process of living tissue. Trifer drops is rapidly absorbed with a high rate of iron utilization and produces as effective increase in haemoglobin. Trifer drops does not irritate gastric mucosa. It has palatable taste. Trigger a shift rise in haemoglobin. No interaction with food or medicines. Free from radical formation. Safest among all iron preparations. Does not cause teeth staining. _ _ _PHARMACOKINETICS: _ The absorption of ferric iron from iron polymaltose complex (IPC) is controlled by a feed back mechanism. When IPC comes into contact with the Iron binding sites at the surface of the mucosal cells, a physicological ex read_full_document
