GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
ZP Rat Zinc phosphide Bait must be used as part of an integrated pest
management (IPM)
strategy and where there is a demonstrated need. In Queensland use
should only occur as
part of the Queensland sugar industry's integrated pest management
plan for managing rat
infestations in sugar cane.
The need to control rats can be assessed by checking for fresh chewing
damage to cane
stalks and evidence of rat movement tracks, by using break-back traps
(10% trap success
overnight early in cane crop is sufficient to trigger a need to bait)
or evidence of active
burrows suggesting rising rat numbers and
