What  is  Lamotrigine generic 
health

used for? 

Lamotrigine generic health  is 
used for the  treatment of 
epilepsy in adults and children. 
Lamotrigine (the active 
ingredient in 
Lamotrigine 
generic health) belongs to a 
group  of medicines called "anti-
epileptic drugs". 
Epilepsy: Usually lamotrigine is 
initially used in addition to other 
medicines for the treatment of 
epilepsy.  Lamotrigine  is used in 
partial  or generalised seizures 
including 
Lennox-Gastaut 
Syndrome. 

It is thought that lamotrigine 
work by changing the
  levels of 
some  chemicals associated with 
seizures. 

Your doctor may have 
prescribed 
lamotrigine 
for 
another reason. 

Lamotrigine is  not  known to be 
addictive.

Lamotrigine Dispersible Tablets 25/50/100/200 mg 

BOXED WARNING 
Severe, potentially life threatening rashes have been
reported in association with the use 
of lamotrigine, particularly in children. Accordingly, lamotrigine
should be discontinued 
at the first sign of rash unless the rash is clearly not drug related.

NAME OF THE MEDICINE 
Chemical name: 3,5-diamino-6-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,4-triazine (CAS:
84057-84-1), 
and the chemical structure is:.  

DESCRIPTION 
Lamotrigine is a substituted asymmetric triazine.  

The pKa of lamotrigine at 25 deg. C is 5.7. It is a white to
pale cream coloured powder. It 
is slightly soluble in ethanol and
chloroform and very slightly soluble in water. 

The active ingredient is lamotrigine.
The tablet also contains _c_rospovidone, povidone K-
30, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica,
aspartame, 
croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate and Trusil
blackcurrant S4468 (ARTG NO. 
11995)
