ALGINOX POOL

ALGAEClDi.rs

a high performance algaecide which is formulated

to kill and control most common forms of green, blue-green (“black spot”) and

mustard algae in swimming pool water.

For maximum effectiveness, ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE should be maintained at

recommended levels and added routinely for proper control.

It is also ideal for

winterising pool water to prevent algae blooms from developing over the off-season.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE must be used in conjunction with a pool sanitiser (eg.

granular or liquid chlorine) to effectively control algae growth.

To prevent the water appearing hazy, ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE should not be

added for at least 48 hours after superchlorinating or shock treating the pool.

This time delay is not required during normal dosing.

Use ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE weekly during summer and monthly during the

off-season.

1.

If the pool has a heavy algae growth, superchlorinate the water by using

unstabilised granular or liquid chlorine. Allow to stand for 48 hours.

Brush the pool thoroughly, vacuum and filter the water for a minimum of six hours.

If no algae growth is visible, apply the usual daily dose of chlorine.

Mix ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE with water in a bucket or watering can and add

to the pool water. Mix in thoroughly, especially around the corners and edges to

eliminate “dead spots”.

After adding ALGINOX POOL ALGAECIDE, do not use the filter for four hours to

avoid foaming. Normal filtration may then be resumed.

WINTER MAINTENANCE

If the pool is sanitised using chlorine, treat

the pool with ALGINOX

POOL

ALGAECIDE every 3 to 4 weeks using the winterising dose from the table above.

Only use high dosage rates when the pool in not in use eg. heavy algae and

winter dosage rates.

CAUTION

Not to be used as a food container

FIRST AID MEASURES

First Aid: Take a copy of this MSDS to medical advisers if signs or symptoms of overexposure

occur and medical attention is required.

Swallowed: Rinse mouth out with water. Seek advice immediately from a medical practitioner

or Poisons Information Centre. Do not induce vomiting unless advised to do so by a medical

practitioner. If more than a mouthful has been swallowed, give one or two glasses of water or

milk.

Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly wash exposed skin with waterless hand

cleaner (if available) followed by plenty of soap and water. Seek medical advice if skin irritation

occurs.

Eye: If contact with the liquid occurs, or if eye irritation arises, hold the eyelid(s) open and flush

the eye(s) with fresh lukewarm water (or, if available, other eye cleansing solutions) for at least

15 minutes. Take care not to rinse contaminated water into the non-affected eye. Seek medical

advice immediately for all eye contact.

Inhaled: Remove affected individual from exposure to fresh air. Seek medical advice if

respiratory symptoms occur.

First Aid Facilities: If practicable, an emergency shower and eyewash station should be

available.

Advice to Doctor: No specific treatment recommended. Treat symptomatically for exposure to

an irritant (a quaternary ammonium compound).

Medical Conditions that may be aggravated by Exposure: Skin contact may aggravate pre-

existing dermatitis. Inhalation of mists may aggravate pre-existing asthma or other respiratory

diseases.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Hazchem Code: None

Extinguishers: If the product is involved in a fire, water spray, alcohol foam, dry chemical or

carbon dioxide extinguishers can be used.

Fire Fighting Precautions: In confined areas or areas of excessive smoke, fire fighters must

wear full protection and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Combustion Products: Carbon monoxide (in conditions of incomplete combustion), carbon

dioxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrogen chloride may be produced if water in the product boils off.

Other Precautions: The product is non flammable. However, after evaporation of water in the

product, the residue may be combustible.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Clean up spills promptly. Keep spilt product out of drains, sewers and waterways. Spills should

be contained, and the possibility of collection for re-use evaluated. If this is not possible, collect

or absorb the material using absorbents, sand or earth and place into a leak proof container for

disposal. Wash down the area of soil with plenty of water to remove any remaining residues.
