TABLET 5MG IS USED FOR
Idaman Pharma Prednisolone Tablet 5mg
is used in the treatment of many different
conditions.
Some
of
these
conditions
include: severe allergies, severe or chronic
asthma,
skin
problems,
arthritis,
inflammatory
diseases
of
the
bowel,
cancer and "auto-immune" diseases.
It is also used to prevent or reduce the
symptoms
of
inflammation
(such
as
swelling,
redness,
pain,
tenderness
or
itching) in any part of the body. These
symptoms can occur in response to injury
or
can
be
caused
by
many
different
conditions.
HOW
IDAMAN
PHARMA
PREDNISOLONE
TABLET 5MG WORKS
Prednisolone
belongs
to
a
group
of
medicines called corticosteroids which are
a synthetic version of a naturally occurring
body hormone called cortisol.
Idaman Pharma Prednisolone Tablet 5mg
works by entering inflammatory cells and
blocking the inflammatory reaction. This
medicine is only able to prevent or reduce
symptoms of your condition, it does not
cure it.

ever
had
an
allergic reaction to:

prednisolone or prednisone
•
any of the ingredients listed at the end of
this leaflet.
Symptoms
of
an
allergic
reaction
may
include shortness of breath, wheezing or
difficulty
in
breathing;
swelling
of
the
face, lips, tongue or any other parts of the
body; rash, itching or hives on the skin.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Clean, dry, round, uniform, flat, bevel edged tablets, scored on one
side and
white in colour.
EACH TABLET CONTAINS : Prednisolone 5mg.
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Prednisolone diffuses across cell membranes and forms complexes with
specific cytoplasmic receptors. These complexes then enter the cell
nucleus,
bind
to
DNA
(chromatin)
and
stimulate
transcription
of
mRNA
and
subsequent protein synthesis of various enzymes thought to be
ultimately
responsible for two categories of effects of its systemic use.
GLUCOCORTICOID EFFECTS (POTENT)
i)
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY - Inhibition of phagocytosis, leukocyte migration
and
capillary dilatation occur; Lysosomal membrane stabilization and
possibly
decreased prostaglandin/thromboxane synthesis may be mediated through
the altered activity of enzymes which regulates the phospholipid
content of
cell membranes.
ii)
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT
-
Prevention
or
suppression
of
cell
mediated
(delayed hypersensitivity) immune reactions may be related to the
anti-
inflammatory actions of prednisolone; mechanism for anti-mitotic
effects and
for decreased growth are not known.
iii)
METABOLIC
-
Protein
catabolism
provides
amino
acids
for
gluconeogenesis, which, along with the decreased peripheral
utilisation of
glucose, leads to increased glycogen storage in the liver, increased
blood
glucose concentrations and insulin resistance. Lipolysis occurs and
with
excessive use of prednisolone, an abnormal redistribution of fat can
occur.
MINERALOCORTICOID EFFECTS (WEAK) - Water and electrolyte balance -
Sodium
reabsorption, potassium and hydrogen excretion, along with subsequent
water retention, are mediated through an action of mineralocorticoids
on the
renal distal tubule which facilitates sodium transport. Cation
transport in other
secretory cells is similarly affected; excretion of water and
electrolytes by the
large intestine, salivary and sweat glands are also altered, but to a
lesser
extent.

Prednisolone is rea
