PACKAGE INSERT Brand or product name WeissNicarb 25% w/w Premix Powder Name and Strength of Active Substance Nicarbazine……..250 mg/g Product Description Green Yellow Powder Pharmacodynamics Nicarbazin is a broad-spectrum chemical anticoccidial agent used to prevent disease and treat infection in food-producing poultry. The drug residue is composed of equimolar quantities of 4,4-dinitrocarbanilide (DNC) and 2-hydroxy-4,6-dimethyl pyrimidine (HDP), with DNC serving as the primary component for tracking of the residue in edible tissues, including fat, muscle, liver, and kidney, and in eggs. Pharmacokinetics Nicarbazin, when ingested, is rapidly split in its two components 2-hydroxy-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine (HDP) and dinitrocarbanilide (DNC) which behave independently. Liver is the target tissue. Dinitrocarbanilide (DNC) residues decline rapidly from tissues following nicarbazin withdrawal. Dinitrocarbanilide (DNC) appears as the marker residue. 2-hydroxy-4,6- dimethylpyrimidine (HDP) -related residues are much lower (by two orders of magnitude) than those derived from dinitrocarbanilide (DNC). The metabolic pathways in the turkey are similar to those in the chicken. Nicarbazin as such cannot appear as residue in tissues; only its two individual components may generate residues. Environmental Properties (for product used directly in the environment e.g. medicine for fish) N/A Indication Aid in preventing outbreaks of cecal (_Eimeria _ _tenella_) and intestinal (_E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. necatrix_ and _E. brunetti_) coccidiosis.
