Injectable powder and solvent
COMPOSITION: Each powder vial contains: Tiletamine HCl corresponding
to 250 mg
tiletamine base. Zolazepam HCl corresponding to 250 mg zolazepam base.
Each solvent vial
contains: Sterile water for injection 5 ml. On reconstitution of
powder with 5 ml solvent, the
solution contains: Tiletamine HCl corresponding to 50 mg/ml tiletamine
base. Zolazepam HCl
corresponding to 50 mg/ml zolazepam base.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: C.1.2.2 Parenteral anaesthetics
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Zoletil is a combination of a compound from
the
cyclohexylamine family, tiletamine and the pyrazolodiazepinone,
zolazepam. A 1:1 ratio allows
efficient general anaesthesia with few side effects. Actions deriving
from the combined properties
of the two components: Catalepsy: Rapid, without agitation, followed
by muscular relaxation.
Analgesia: Immediate superficial analgesia. Moderate visceral
analgesia. Surgical Anaesthesia:
- With muscular relaxation. - Conservation of laryngeal, pharyngeal
and palpebral reflexes. - No
depression of respiratory centre. - Salivation may appear. Awakening:
- Calm without agitation
away from loud noises and bright lights. - Rapid return of muscular
coordination. - When Zoletil
is intravenously administered in dogs and cats, there is a faster
induction to recumbency and to
anaesthesia. Furthermore, dogs experience shorter recovery times.
INDICATIONS: - Anaesthesia and immobilisation of domestic cats and
dogs. - Anaesthesia and
immobilisation of wild and exotic primates and carnivora.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS - Severe respiratory and cardiac dysfunction. -
Pancreatic insufficiency
- Severe hypertension.- Pre-existing renal pathology or impaired renal
function.- Subject
under systemic organophosphorus treatment.- Do not use in conjunction
with premedication
tranquillisers of the phenothiazine family e.g. chlorpromazine,
