Date of revision What Windex Syrup is used for Windex Syrup is used as a cough suppressant for the treatment of unproductive (dry) cough. How Windex Syrup works The syrup contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide which is an antitussive to help stop coughing. Before you use Windex Syrup - When you must not take it Do not take this product if you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to dextromethorphan or any of other ingredients in Windex Syrup. Do not use if you have liver disease Do not use if you have breathing problem Do not use if you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). - Before you start to use it This product should be used with caution and doctor or pharmacist advice in children 2 to 6 years of age. Not to be used in children less than 2 years of age. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you: Have liver or kidney problems. Have asthma - Taking other medicines There are some medicines Windex Syrup may interfere with each other. These include: Fluoxetine or Paroxetine (antidepressant) Quinidine (medication for irregular hearbeats) How to take Windex Syrup - How much to take Adults and children above 12 years: 2 teaspoons (10ml) every 6 hours. Do not exceed 8 teaspoons or 40ml in a day. Children 6 to 12 years: 1 teaspoon (5ml) every 6 hours Do not exceed 4 teaspoons or 20ml in a day. Children 2 to 5 years: ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) every 6 hours.
