WHAT STADOVAS IS USED FOR
Stadovas
tablet
contains
the
active
substance amlodipine which belongs to
a group of medicines called calcium
antagonists.
Your
medicine
is
used
alone
or
in
combination
with
other
classes
of
antihypertension
agents
(agents
used
to
treat
high
blood
pressure)
in
the
management
of
hypertension or with other antianginal
agents (agents used to treat chest pain)
in the management of Prinzmetal variant
angina
and
chronic
stable
angina
pectoris.
HOW STADOVAS WORKS
In
patients
with
high
blood
pressure
your medicine works by relaxing blood
vessels, so that blood passes through
them
more
easily.
In
patients
with
angina, Stadovas works by improving
blood supply to the heart muscle which
then receives more oxygen and as a
result
chest
pain
is
prevented.
Your
medicine does not provide immediate
relief of chest pain caused by angina.
BEFORE YOU TAKE STADOVAS
_WHEN YOU MUST NOT USE IT _
You
are
allergic
(hypersensitive)
to
amlodipine,
or
any
of
the
other
ingredients of your medicine, or to any
other calcium antagonists.
You have cardiogenic shock, suffered a
myocardial infarction in the previous 2
to 4 weeks, or in acute unstable angina,
in treatment an angina attack in chronic
stable angina.
You are pregnant or lactation.
_BEFORE YOU START TO USE IT _
Stadovas can be taken without regard to
meals.
_TAKING OTHER MEDICINE _
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if
you are taking or have recently taken
any
other
medicines,
including
medicines
obtained
without
a
prescription

PHARMACODYNAMICS
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist (calcium ion
antagonist or slow channel blocker)
that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular
smooth muscle and cardiac
muscle. The contractile processes of cardiac muscle and vascular
smooth muscle are dependent
upon the movement of extracellular calcium ions into these cells
through specific ion channels.
Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes
selectively, with a greater effect on
vascular smooth muscle cells than on cardiac muscle cells. Amlodipine
is a peripheral arterial
vasodilator that acts directly on vascular smooth muscle to cause a
reduction in peripheral vascular
resistance and reduction in blood pressure.
COMPOSITION
Active ingredient:

_Stadovas 10_
tablet contains 10 mg of amlodipine (as amlodipine besilate).
_Stadovas 5:_
White to off-white, oval-shaped tablet, biconvex, engraved “5” on
one side and plain on
the other side.

_Stadovas 5 _
tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine (as amlodipine besilate).
_Stadovas 10:_
White to off-white, round-shaped tablet, flat, engraved “STADOVAS
10” on one side
and fracture line on the other side.
DESCRIPTION
-
The drug should not be used in cardiogenic shock, in patients who have
suffered a myocardial
infarction in the previous 2 to 4 weeks, or in acute unstable angina,
in treatment an anginal attack in
chronic stable angina.
INDICATIONS
-
Use in the elderly normal dosage regimens are recommended. Amlodipine,
used at similar doses in
elderly or younger patients, is equally well tolerated. Use in
children safety and effectiveness of
amlodipine in children have not been established.

The dose may need to be reduced in patients with hepatic impairment.
DOSAGE
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

In patients with severe aortic stenosis amlodipine may increase the
risk of developing heart failure.
Sudden withdrawal of amlodipine might be associated with an
exacerbation of angina.
Amlodipine is contraindicated in patients with a known sensitivity to
