WHAT AXCEL IRIDIN LINCTUS IS USED
FOR
Axcel Iridin Linctus is used to relief
unproductive
or
irritating
coughs
associated
with
common
cold,
sinusitis
(inflammation
of
the
sinuses), influenza and infections of
the upper respiratory tract.
HOW AXCEL IRIDIN LINCTUS WORKS
Pholcodine
is
a
cough
suppressant
and has a mild sedative effect which
relieves
local
irritation
of
the
respiratory tract over 8 to 10 hours. It
is
used
for
the
relief
of
non-
productive
cough.
Pholcodine
has
low
or
no
analgesic
(a
drug
that
relieves pain) properties. Pholcodine
therapeutic dosage does not caused
respiratory
depression,
CNS
excitement,
constipation
or
other
related narcotic effects. Pholcodine is
not
euphorigenic
(giving
rise
to
excessive excitement feel), therefore
psychological
dependence
is
not
a
problem.
BEFORE YOU USE AXCEL IRIDIN LINCTUS
_-When you must not use it _
Do not take Axcel Iridin Linctus if:
•
You
are
allergic
or
hypersensitive to pholcodine or
any
component
of
this
medication
_-Before you start to use it _
Tell your doctor if:
•
If
you
are
pregnant
and
breastfeeding.
•
If you have decreased respiratory
reserve.
•
If
you
have
impaired
liver
function.
_-Taking other medicines _
You should tell your doctor if you are
taking the following medicine as it
may interact with your Axcel Iridin
Linctus:
•
Alcohol
and
Central
Nervous
System (CNS) depressant.
Taking
Axcel Iridin
linctus
with a
benzodiazepine
(medicine
used
as
sedatives
or
to
treat
anxiety)
can
depress your central nervous system.
Inform
your
doctor
if
you
are
currently taking any benzodiazepine.
