WHAT LORAPAED ALLERGY RELIEF IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR Lorapaed Allergy Relief 5 mg/5 ml Oral Solution ( ’ Lorapaed Allergy Relief') belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It works by counteracting the effects of histamine which is produced naturally by your body's defence system, but may be over-produced in allergic reactions. Lorapaed Allergy Relief is used to relieve the SYMPTOMS OF HAYFEVER (allergic rhinitis) in adults and children over the age of 2 years, which include: • sneezing • irritated, runny or blocked nose • itchy, red and watering eyes It is also used to relieve the SYMPTOMS OF SKIN ALLERGIES in adults and children (over the age of 2 years), which include: • rash, itching and urticaria (hives). 2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE LORAPAED ALLERGY RELIEF DO NOT TAKE LORAPAED ALLERGY RELIEF IF YOU ARE: • allergic to loratadine, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine _(see Section 6 and end of Section 2)._ • pregnant or planning to become pregnant. • breast-feeding, as loratadine can pass into breast milk. OBJECT 1 LORAPAED ALLERGY RELIEF 5 MG/5 ML ORAL SOLUTION Summary of Product Characteristics Updated 06-Jun-2018 | Pinewood Healthcare 1. Name of the medicinal product Lorapaed Allergy Relief 5 mg/5 ml Oral Solution 2. Qualitative and quantitative composition Each 1ml of oral solution contains 1mg loratadine. Each 1 ml of oral solution also contains the following excipients: 0.11 g glycerol (E422) 0.11 g propylene glycol 0.6 g sucrose For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3. Pharmaceutical form Oral Solution Colour free, Peach flavour 4. Clinical particulars 4.1 Therapeutic indications This medicine is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticarial in adults and children over the age of 2 years. 4.2 Posology and method of administration _Adults and children over 12 years of age: _ 10ml (10mg) of the oral solution once daily. _Paediatric population _ _Children 2 to 12 years of age ARE DOSED BY WEIGHT_: Body weight more than 30kg: 10ml (10mg) of the oral solution once daily; Body weight 30kg or less: 5ml (5mg) of the oral solution once daily. Efficacy and safety of this medicine in children under 2 years of age has not been established. _Patients with hepatic impairment _ Patients with severe liver impairment should be administered a lower initial dose because they may have reduced clearance of loratadine. An initial dose of 10mg every other day is recommended for adults and children weighing more than 30kg, and for children weighing 30kg or less, 5ml (5mg) every other day is recommended. _Patients with renal impairment _ No dosage adjustments are required in the elderly or in patients with renal insufficiency. _Elderly _ No dosage adjustments are required in the elderly. _Method of administration _ Oral use.
