USES For the active immunisation of cattle against the five major clostridial diseases: Enterotoxaemia (Pulpy Kidney) Tetanus Malignant Oedema Black Disease (Necrotic Hepatitis) Blackleg and against Leptospirosis caused by _L. hardjo_ and _L. pomona_. The vaccination of healthy cattle before infection will prevent the urinary shedding of leptospirae thereby preventing the transmission of the disease to humans and other cattle. Vaccination will not alter the shedding status of already infected animals. VACCINATION PROGRAMME PRIMARY VACCINATION Two 4 mL doses administered at least four weeks apart and preferably 4 to 6 weeks apart. Optimum protection is attained two weeks after the administration of the second dose. The vaccination course should therefore be completed 2 weeks prior to the period of risk. Maternal antibodies may interfere with the response to vaccination if administered before 6 months of age. Calves exposed to a high risk may be vaccinated from 4 weeks of age. However, it is essential that a booster dose is administered once they reach six months of age. All animals introduced to the dairy herd must either have a reliably documented and effective Leptospirosis vaccination history or to be treated with streptomycin at recommended dose rates for leptospirosis and receive a full primary vaccination. BOOSTER VACCINATION An annual single 4mL dose is required. However in those areas where clostridial disease challenge (especially Black Disease) is particularly high, six monthly booster doses should be administered.
