WHAT BENCODYL LINCTUS IS
USED FOR
BENCODYL LINCTUS is used to
relieve unproductive cough. It is
also
used
in
the
treatment
of
parkinsonism
and
for
the
prevention of motion sickness.
HOW BENCODYL LINCTUS
WORKS
BENCODYL LINCTUS works by
blocking
a
certain
natural
substance
(histamine)
that
your
body
makes
during
an
allergic
reaction. Its drying effects on such
symptoms
as
watery
eyes
and
runny nose are caused by blocking
another natural substance made by
your body (acetylcholine).

_Ammonium Chloride_
acts indirectly
by irritating gastric mucosa which
causes vomiting that will increases
respiratory tract fluid secretion thus
decreasing viscosity of sputum and
presumably making it is easier to
cough up.

_Menthol_
is
works
to
relieve
symptoms of bronchitis, sinusitis
and other similar conditions which
can cause coughing.
_Sodium _
_Citrate_
works
as
mucolytic, an agent which breaks
down mucus, so that coughing up
the phlegm is easier.

not
take
BENCODYL
LINCTUS if you:

allergic
to
any
medicine
containing
diphenhydramine
or
ammonium
chloride
or
to
any
other ingredients listed at the end
of this leaflet.

Do not give this medication to
premature infants or neonates.

Do
not
use
this
medicine
in
children under 2 years of age.

Do not take this medicine after
the
expiry
date
printed
on
the
pack or

If the packaging is torn or shows
signs of tempering.
