INDICATIONS
Treatment of bronchospasm and airways obstruction associated with:
Bacterial infection - during and after the infective phase
Bronchitis
Bronchopneumonia
Respiratory allergies- e.g. to pollens, fungi, moulds and stable dust
Exercise-induced bronchospasm
All conditions where narrowing of the small airways is a contributing
factor to the problem.

DO NOT USE IN FOOD-PRODUCING SPECIES OF ANIMALS.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
This product is contraindicated for use in conjunction with other beta
adrenergic agents and in
pregnancy at term since uterine contractions may be abolished under
its influence.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
2.5 g granules per 50 kg bodyweight twice daily, orally for 10 days
(the measure holds 10 g
when level).
Horses with chronic bronchoconstriction may require long term
continuous bronchodilator
therapy. In these cases a lower dose of Ventipulmin
®
(e.g. 1/2–2/3 the recommended dose
twice daily) may be adequate to produce full control of symptoms.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS
PROPERTIES
Ventipulmin
®
is a sympathomimetic amine with selectivity for the beta-2 receptor
sites in the
body providing bronchodilator properties with minimum effect on the
musculature system.
Stimulation of beta-2 receptors relaxes the smooth musculature of the
bronchi thus resolving
bronchial spasm and improving pulmonary ventilation.
Ventipulmin
®
is completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral
administration. It is effective for 6–8 hours after a single dose,
12 hours after repeated twice
daily dosing. After treatment for 3–5 days, twice daily
administration provides satisfactory
level of medication.
