Contents of the pack and other information 1. WHAT METOPROLOL TARTRATE TABLETS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR Metoprolol tartrate, belongs to a group of medicines called beta blockers. It is used to treat: • high blood pressure • angina pectoris (pain in the chest caused by blockages in the arteries to the heart) • irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) • the symptoms caused by an overactive thyroid gland (thyrotoxicosis) It is used to PREVENT: • heart damage and death due to heart attacks • migraine 2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE METOPROLOL TARTRATE TABLETS DO NOT TAKE METOPROLOL TARTRATE TABLETS if you: • are allergic to metoprolol, other beta-blockers or any other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). • suffer with HEART CONDUCTION or RHYTHM PROBLEMS • have severe or uncontrolled heart failure • are in shock caused by heart problems • suffer with BLOCKED BLOOD VESSELS, including BLOOD CIRCULATION PROBLEMS (which may cause your fingers and toes to tingle or turn pale or blue) • have a slow heart rate or have suffered a heart Soma hati kamili
OBJECT 1 METOPROLOL TARTRATE 50 MG TABLETS Summary of Product Characteristics Updated 24-Oct-2017 | Accord Healthcare Limited 1. Name of the medicinal product Metoprolol Tartrate 50 MG TABLETS 2. Qualitative and quantitative composition Each tablet contains Metoprolol tartrate 50 mg For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3. Pharmaceutical form Tablet White to off-white, approximately 8 mm round, biconvex tablet marked on one side and a scoreline on the other side. The tablet can be divided into equal halves. 4. Clinical particulars 4.1 Therapeutic indications • Hypertension • Angina pectoris • Tachyarrhythmias, in particular supraventricular tachycardia • Maintenance treatment after a myocardial infarction • Prophylaxis of migraine Metoprolol is indicated in adults. 4.2 Posology and method of administration Metoprolol tartrate tablets should be administered orally. The tablets should be taken on an empty stomach. The dose must always be adjusted to the individual requirements of the patient. The following are guidelines: Posology _Hypertension _ The usual dose is 100mg to 200mg daily, given as a single dose in the morning, or in divided doses (morning and evening). Begin with 50mg twice daily or 100mg once daily. Dose increments should be at weekly intervals thereafter according to individual patient responses. Maximum dose, usually 200mg daily. If necessary, it may be taken in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. _Angina pectoris _ The usual dose is 100 to 200 mg daily, given in divided doses (morning and evening). Begin with 50mg twice daily. Dose increments should be at weekly intervals thereafter according to individual patient responses. Maximum dose, usually 200mg daily (in divided doses). If necessary, it may be taken in combination with other antianginal drugs. _Cardiac arrhythmias _ The usual dose is 100 to 150 mg per day, in divided doses (in the morning and in the evening).
