What Deqben Lozenge is used for
Deqben Lozenge is used for the relief of
painful infections of the mouth and throat
including sore throats (pharyngitis),
laryngitis, ulcerative stomatitis and
aphthous stomatitis.
How Deqben Lozenge works
Dequalinium Chloride is a quaternary
ammonium antiseptic, effective against
bacteria, yeast and fungi.
Benzocaine is a pra-aminobenzoic acid
ester and is a local anaesthetic used for
surface anaesthesia.
Before you use Deqben Lozenge
When you must not take it
Do not take this product if you are allergic
(hypersensitivity) to Dequalinium Chloride,
Benzocaine and its derivatives.
Patients with low plasma cholinesterase
concentrations.
Not recommended for use by children
under 12 years.
Before you start to use it
This product should use with caution in
patients with myasthenia gravis.
Taking other medicines
The metabolites of Benzocaine and para-
aminobenzoic acid may antagonize the
effects of Cholinesterase Inhibitors or
Sulfonamides.
How to take Deqben Lozenge
How much to take
For oral use only.
Adults and children over 12 years: Dissolve
1 lozenge slowly inside the mouth every 2
to 3 hours when required. Maximum 8
lozenges in 24 hours.
Do not exceed the recommended dose
unless advised by a doctor.
When to take it
You should follow the recommended
dose and should not take more than the
prescribed dose.
How long to take it
Take as directed by your doctor or
pharmacist.
If you forget to take it
If you forget to take Deqben Lozenge,
take it as soon as you remember. Never
double up on the next dose to make up
for the one missed.
