Catheters can be used for pulmonary angiography.Use of a balloon on the tip of the catheter in angiography keeps the catheter away from the myocardium, reducing the possibility of arrythmias or staining from dye injection. Used for selectice pulmonary occlusion studies. A balloon is inflated to provide surface contact with the pulmonary artery whilst contrast solution is injected. Photographs are taken of this activity to assess the patient's pulmonary condition
