NEOVE FLUNIXIN MEGLUMINE INJECTION
FLUNIXIN MEGLUMINE (equivalent to 50 mg/mL FLUNIXIN)
A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic, with
antiprostaglandin effects
for use in horses, cattle, pigs and dogs
ACTIVITY:
Flunixin meglumine is a potent, non-narcotic, non-steroidal, analgesic
agent with anti-pyretic activity.
It is significantly more potent than pentazocine, pethidine and
codeine as an analgesic. Flunixin is four
times more potent on a mg per mg basis than phenylbutazone, as
measured by the reduction in
lameness and tissue swelling in the horse. Plasma half-life in horse
serum is 1.6 hours following a
single dose of 1.1 mg/kg. Measurable amounts are detectable in horse
plasma at 8 hours post injection.
In the pig, peak plasma levels occur within 15 minutes after
intramuscular injection, with only trace
amounts remaining after 24 hours.
INDICATIONS:
EQUINE:
Flunixin is recommended for the alleviation of inflammation and pain
associated with
musculoskeletal disorders and for the alleviation of visceral pain and
inflammation associated with
colic. Flunixin also aids the normalisation of peristalsis.
BOVINE
: Flunixin is effective as an aid in the management of acute
respiratory disease in cattle as well
as being an effective aid in the management of "downer cow" syndrome.
SWINE:
Flunixin is recommended as an aid in the treatment of mastitis,
metritis, agalactia syndrome
(MMA or lactational failure) in sows

CANINE:
Flunixin is recommended in canines as supportive therapy for the
following conditions:
arthritis, heat stroke, accident cases.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
This product is contraindicated for use in cats.
