COMPOSITION: Each gram of Elicasal TM ointment contains active compound mometasone furoate 1 mg and salicylic acid 50 mg in suitable ointment base. INDICATIONS: Mometasone furoate belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids or steroids as they are simply known. Mometasone is a strongly acting glucocorticoid with anti- inflammatory and antipruritic effect.Salicylic acid helps to remove dry and scaling skin. Salicylic acid also increases the uptake of mometasone. Elicasal TM is used to treat psoriasis, especially in case of intensive scaling. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Apply a thin film of Elicasal TM to the affected skin areas twice or once daily. PHARMACOLOGY: Mometasone is a synthetic corticosteroid, exhibits anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. Topical salicylic acid softens Keratin, loosens cornfield epithelium and desqunates the epidermis. PRECAUTION: Avoid ointment on eyes or on mucous membranes. Elicasal TM is not to be used in the face without prescription by your doctor. Treatment during longer periods and on large body surface areas, on wounds and sounded skin, and in the armpits and groins should be avoided .The ointment should not be used under bandages or similar. Glucocorticoids can mask, trigger or worsen skin infections.If you develop skin infections while using this ointment, your doctor will give you an appropriate treatment for fungal or bacterial infections. If you do not respond to treatment, please discontinue Elicasal TM until the infection is under control.Contact your doctor if irritation, including excessive dryness develops. The treatment might need to be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. Use of topical corticosteroid in children should be limited to the least amount compatible with an effective therapeutic regimen. Since safe use of mometasone furoate 0.1% in pregnant women has not been established, topical corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus.
