INFORMATION FOR THE USER Boots Indigestion Relief Tablets Fruit (Calcium Carbonate) READ ALL OF THIS LEAFLET CAREFULLY BECAUSE IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOU. This medicine is available without prescription to treat minor conditions. However, you still need to take it carefully to get the best results from it. Keep this leaflet, you may need to read it again Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or advice WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS FOR This medicine contains Calcium Carbonate which belongs to a group of medicines called antacids that act to neutralise excess acid in the stomach. It can be used to relieve the symptoms of indigestion, heartburn, acidity and wind. BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS MEDICINE This medicine can be taken by adults and children aged 12 years and over. However, some people should not take this medicine or should seek the advice of their pharmacist or doctor first. X DO NOT TAKE: IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD CALCIUM LEVELS IF YOU HAVE KIDNEY stones or kidney problems IF YOU HAVE AN OVERACTIVE PARATHYROID GLAND IF YOU SUFFER FROM ZOLLINGER-ELLISON SYNDROME, a rare disease which causes frequent stomach ulcers IF YOU ARE ON A LOW PHOSPHATE DIET IF YOU ARE TAKING HEART MEDICINES such as digoxin IF YOU HAVE AN INTOLERANCE TO SOME SUGARS, unless your doctor tells you to (this medicine contains dextrose) DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITHIN 3 HOURS OF TAKING OTHER MEDICINES by mouth, as it can interfere with the action of some other medicines OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION BREASTFEEDING: You can take this medicine if you are breastfeeding. INFORMATION ABOUT SOME OF THE INGREDIENTS IN THIS MEDICINE: Each tablet contains between 521 and 525 mg of dextrose. This should be taken into account by people with diabetes. The colour ponceau 4R (E124) or sunset yellow (E110) in this medicine may cause an allergic reaction. SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Fruit Flavoured Antacid Tablets Fruit Flavoured Indigestion Tablets Superdrug Fruit Flavoured Indigestion Relief Tablets Boots Indigestion Relief Tablets Fruit Wilko Fruit Flavoured Antacid 500mg Tablets 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION INGREDIENT QTY UNIT DOSE Calcium Carbonate 500 mg tablet For full list of excipients, see section 6.1 3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Tablet 4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS For relief from indigestion, dyspepsia, heartburn, acidity and flatulence. 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION Take one or two tablets, as required, up to a maximum of 16 tablets a day. Suck slowly or chew as preferred. There is no distinction between adults and the elderly on the pack. Not recommended for children under 12 years. Pregnant women: One or two tablets to be sucked or chewed whenever required, up to a maximum of 7 tablets in 24 hours. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, excipients, refer to section 6.1 Patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Patients on a low phosphate diet. Patients on cardiac glycosides. Patients with impaired renal function. Nephrocalcinosis Hypophosphatemia 4.4 SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE If symptoms persist consult your doctor. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. Calcium carbonate should be used with caution in patients with hypercalciuria. This product contains glucose and as such, care is required in patients with diabetes mellitus. Patients with rare glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine. The elderly should take care to observe warnings and contraindications, due to increased susceptibility to adverse drug reactions, by means of age-related changes and polypharmacy.
