PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: White to off white fine powder.
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
Sulfachloropyridazine is an antibiotic belonging to the group of
Sulfonamides.
Sulfonamides inhibit bacterial growth by acting as complete antagonist
of para –
aminobenzoic acid (PABA) which is essential for the synthesis of folic
acid in the
susceptible bacteria. When trimethoprim is administered with
sulfonamides, they inhibit
the formation and reduction of bacterial folic acid. The sequential
blockade affected by
the drug combination produces an antibacterial action that is greater
than the summated
activity of the individual compounds. The action of the combination
proved to be
bactericidal whereas components separately are bacteriostatic in
action.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Sulfachloropyridazine and trimethoprim are rapidly absorbed,
distributed throughout the
body eliminated by the kidneys.
INDICATION:
Pigs:
Intestinal diseases caused by_ E. coli_. Salmonellosis. Atrophic
rhinitis (_P.multocida)._
Pneumonia caused by APP. Haemophilus parasuis._ Streptococcus suis._
MMA complex of
sows. Prophylaxis and therapy of primary and secondary bacterial
infections in pigs
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
0.05g of the product per 100 kg body weight daily for 5 - 10 days.
This corresponds Sulfachlorpyridazine 25 mg and 5 mg of trimethoprim
per kg of body
weight per day.
Instructions for medicated feeding
The product is suitable for administration via the drinking water.
After addition of the
medicated drinking water, stir until the premix has completely
dissolved. Drinking water
has to be freshly prepared several times a day and administered
immediately after
reconstitution of the product. If the product is administered via the
drinking water, a
water system must be available.
