WHAT PCE IS USED FOR
This medicine is used to relief
dry irritating cough.
HOW PCE WORKS
PCE contains combination of 2
active
ingredients,
which
are
Pholcodine
and
Chlorpheniramine Maleate.
Pholcodine
is
a
cough
suppressant.
It
affects
the
signals in the brain that trigger
cough reflex.
Chlorpheniramine
maleate
is
an antihistamine. It works by
blocking
the
effects
of
histamine,
calming
down
the
body’s
allergic
reaction
and
starting
to
relieve
the
symptoms.
BEFORE YOU USE PCE

_When you must not take it_
Do not take this
medicine
if
you have an allergy to:
•
Pholcodine
•
Chlorpheniramine maleate
•
Any of the other ingredients
listed
at
the
end
of
this
leaflet
•
Any
other
similar
medicines
Do not take PCE if you
•
Have phlegm
•
Have liver disease
If any of these apply to you,
get
advice
from
a
doctor
or
pharmacist.
Do not take this medicine after
the expiry date printed on the
pack or if the packaging is torn
or shows signs of tampering.
If it has expired or is damaged,
return it to your pharmacist for
disposal.
If you are not sure whether you
should
start
taking
this
medicine, talk to your doctor.

Tell your doctor if you have
allergies
to
any
other
medicines, foods, preservatives
or dyes.
Tell your doctor if you have or
have had any of the following
medical conditions:
•
asthma
•
liver problems
•
bladder problem
•
glaucoma(high
pressure
in
the eyes)
•
epilepsy
•
prostatic
hypertrophy
(enlargement
of
prostate
gland)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist
for
advice
before
taking
this
medicine if you are pregnant or
breastfeeding.
