PHARMACODYNAMICS
Iron, provided by the ferric ammonium citrate, plays an essential role
in oxygen metabolism and in energy metabolism.
Cyanocobalamin (or vitamin B12) is a water soluble vitamin which
plays a role in folate metabolism.
Nicotinamide (or vitamin PP) is also a water soluble vitamin. This is
an active moiety of two co-enzymes which, in association with the
apoenzymes, are involved in different stages of the degradation or
synthesis of carbohydrates, fatty acids and amino acids. This molecule
also
plays
a
key
role
during
terminal
oxidative
degradation
of
substrates in the citric acid cycle by fixing hydrogen during the
terminal phase and by transporting it to the flavinic enzymes of the
respiratory chain.
Cobalt is a trace element required for the activity of microflora in
the
Magny-Vernois 70200 LURE (France)
rumen. In ruminants, cobalt is converted into vitamin B12 which, after
absorption, participates in metabolism of propionic acid, the main
energy source in these animals.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Iron,
provided
by
ferric
ammonium
citrate,
is
absorbed
into
the
duodenum and stored in the intestinal mucosa in the form of ferritin.
