SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1. NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT TRADE NAME: ELOCOM INTERNATIONAL NONPROPRIETARY NAME: mometasone 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION 1 g of ointment contains _active substance:_ 1 mg of mometasone furoate; _excipients:_ hexylene glycol, purified water, phosphoric acid, propylene glycol stearate, white beeswax, white vaseline. 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Ointment. _ _ _MAIN PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES: _ white or off-white opaque ointment, free of foreign matter. _PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC GROUP_. Corticosteroids for topical use in dermatology. Corticosteroids, potent (group III). Code АТС D07A C13 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Topical management of inflammation and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive skin diseases, including psoriasis and atopic dermatitis 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION A small quantity of Elocom should be applied to the affected areas of the skin once daily. Duration of treatment is defined by severity and state of the disease and should be determined individually. Use of topical corticosteroids in children and adults on the face should not exceed 5 days. Continuous application of the drug should not exceed 2-3 weeks. _Children _ Elocom should be used with caution in adults and children over 2 years. There are limited data on the use of the drug to treat children younger than 2 years. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS Elocom is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any ingredient in the product. As other corticosteroids, Elocom is contraindicated in acne vulgaris, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, perianal and genital pruritis, nappy rash, bacterial (for example, impetigo, pyoderma), viral (simplex, herpes zoster, varicella, vulgar warts, pointed condylomas, molluscum contagiosum) and fungal (for example, caused by yeast-like fungi and dermatophytes) skin infections, parasitic infestations, tuberculosis, syphilis or post-vaccine reactions.
