DESCRIPTION
The catheter contamination shield is 80 cm in
length. Models CC0280 and CC5280 contain a
Tuohy‑Borst Adapter at the proximal end. Models
MCL80G2 and MCT80L contain Tuohy‑Borst
adapters at the proximal and distal ends.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1.
Insert the tip of the desired catheter through
the proximal Tuohy‑Borst adapter of the
catheter contamination shield, and advance
the catheter through the shield assembly
(See page 20, Fig. 1).
NOTE: For models CC0280 and CC5280, do not
remove the valve cap.
2.
Advance the catheter through the introducer
valve and into the sheath to desired vessel
location. Verify catheter tip and sheath
placement.
3.
Extend the distal end of the catheter
contamination shield towards the introducer
valve. Insert the distal adapter of the
contamination shield into the valve housing
(See page 21, Fig. 2a).
NOTE: For model MCL80G2, push the distal
adapter over the valve cap until securely locked
into place (See page 22, Fig. 2b).
NOTE: For model CC0280, when used with the
Edwards Intro‑Flex Automatic Hemostasis
Valve Introducer, push the distal adapter over
the valve cap and rotate until securely locked
into place (See page 24, Fig. 4).
NOTE: For model CC5280, when used with the
Edwards Intro‑Flex Tuohy‑Borst Valve
Introducer, push the distal adapter over the
valve cap until securely locked into place
(See page 25, Fig. 5).
4.
For model MCL80G2, secure distal Tuohy‑Borst
adapter to the catheter.
5.
Extend the proximal end of the catheter
contamination shield to desired length, and
secure proximal Tuohy‑Borst adapter to the
catheter.
CAUTION: Overtightening the Tuohy‑Borst
adapters of the contamination shield may
impair catheter function.
