DESCRIPTION
:
A colourless transparent mucous liquid
COMPOSITION
:
Lindane(USP) 1g/100g
(Gama Benzene Hexachloride)
PHARMACOLOGY/PHARMACOKINETIC
:
An amount sufficient to thoroughly wet the hair and scalp of the
affected and
surrounding hairy areas should be used, followed by enough water to
work up a
lather while rubbing into the hair and scalp. Shampooing should be
continued for 4
minutes, then the hair and scalp rinsed thoroughly and dried with a
clean towel.
When the hair is dry, patient should use a fine tooth comb to remove
any remaining
nits or nit shells. The shampoo may also be used to clean combs and
brushed to
prevent spreading of the infestation. This shampoo should not be used
as a regular
shampoo in the absence of infestation.
INDICATIONS
:
For the treatment of patients infested with Pediculus Capitis,
Phthirus Pubis and
their ova
DIRECTION FOR USE
:
1.
Apply a sufficient quantity of Licend to dry hair
Short hair – approx. 30ml
Medium hair – approx 45ml
Long hair – approx 60ml
2.
Work thoroughly into the hair and alley and remain in place 4 minutes.
3.
Add small quantity of water until a good lather forms.
4.
Dry your hair with towel after rinse it out of your head.
Retreatment is usually not necessary if you see Pediculus Capitis &
pubis after 7
days, it indicates that retreatment is necessary.
CONTRAINDICATION
:
1.
Do not administer to persons with a medical history of erethism,
epilepsy and
immature infants.
2.
Careful administration is required for infants, pregnant women and
breast-
feeding mothers.
3.
Administer as directed.
PRECAUTIONS / WARNINGS
:
1.
Oils may enhance absorption, therefore, if an oil based hair dressing
is used, it
is recommended that the hair be shampooed, rinsed and dried before
application of Licend.
2.
Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, if such contact
occurs,
eyes should be immediately flushed with water, if irritation or
sensation
occurs, the patient should be advised to consult a physician.
