The Micostar device reads Inlight Radiation dosimetry badge, environmental radiation badge and nanodot radiation detection device. The Microstar is a manually operated device for reading the three nominated badges. The read out process uses a light emitting diode (LED) array to stimulate the detectors, and the light emitted by the OSL material is detected and measured by a photomultiplier tube using a high sensitivityphoton counting system. The amount of light released during optical stimulation is directly proportional to the radiation dose and intensity of stimulated light.
