IS USED FOR
It is used as an antiseptic for treatment
of skin lesions, cuts, abrasions, infected
wounds and burns.

WORKS
It contains chlorhexidine that is effective
against a wide range of Gram- negative
and Gram-positive vegetative bacteria,
yeasts, dermatophyte fungi and lipophilic
viruses. It is inactive against bacterial
spores except at elevated temperatures.

rapid heartbeat.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Chlorhexidine Gluconate 1%w/w
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Clear colourless to slight yellowish and odourless solution.
INDICATION:
As an antiseptic for treatment of skin lesions, cuts, abrasions,
infected wounds and burns.
DIRECTION OF USE:
Clean and dry affected area. Then spray the solution 3 times a
day
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Topical
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
Chlorhexidine is effective against a wide range of Gram negative
and Gram positive vegetative bacteria, yeasts, dermatophye
fungi and lipophilic viruses. It is inactive against bacterial spores
except at elevated temperatures.
Pharmacokinetics:
Chlorhexidine is cationic nature, it binds strongly to skin mucosa
and other tissues and is thus very poorly absorbed. There are, as
a consequence, no general pharmacological studies on chlorhex-
idine available and its effects on internal organs are minimal. No
detactable blood levels have been found in man following oral
use and percutaneous absorption, if it occurs at all, is insignifi-
cant.
CONTRAINDICATION:
Risk-benefit
should
be
considered
when
hypersensitivity
to
Chlorhexidine exist.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
MK essentia healthcare series Antiseptic Spray 1%w/v contains
chlorhexidine. Chlorhexidine is known to include hypersensitivity,
including generalized allergic reactions and analphylactic shock.
The prevalence of chlorhexidine hypersensitivity is unknown, but
available literature suggests this is likely to be very rare. MK
essentia healthcare series Antiseptic Spray 1%w/v should not be
administered to anyone with a possible history of an allergic
reaction to chlorhexidine.
If any signs or symptoms of a suspected hypersensitivity reaction
such as itching, skin rash, redness, swelling, breathing difficulties,
light headedness and rapid heart rate develop, immediately stop
using
the
product. Appropriate
therapeutic
countermeasures
must be instituted as clinically indicated.
