Características técnicas

PRESENTATION:
A colourless to light yellow sterile solution for injection. Each ml
contains lincomycin (as
Lincomycin Hydrochloride) 50 mg and spectinomycin (as spectinomycin
sulphate) 100 mg plus 9
mg benzyl alcohol as preservative.
PHARMACOLOGY:
The product contains both lincomycin and spectinomycin. Lincomycin is
a lincosamide antibiotic
with activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative
bacteria and
mycoplasma. It is well distributed throughout the body and is
significantly metabolised.
Spectinomycin is an aminocyclitol antibiotic and is also active
against mycoplasma as well as
many Gram-negative bacteria, particularly members of the
Enterobacteriaceae. It is also well
distributed throughout the body and appears to be mainly excreted as
the parent compound.
INDICATIONS:
Linco-Spectin Sterile Solution is indicated for the treatment of
infections in pigs, non-ruminating
calves, dogs and cats caused by organisms sensitive to the action of
lincomycin and/or
spectinomycin including:
Actinobacillus
spp.
Pasteurella
spp.
Serpulina hyodysenteriae
Escherichia coli
Salmonella
spp.
Campylobacter
spp.
Bacteroides
spp.
Clostridium
spp.
Fusobacterium
spp.
Actinomyces
spp.
Staphylococcus
spp.
Streptococcus
spp.
Mycoplasma
spp.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
By intramuscular injection. Aseptic injection techniques should be
practiced.
Pigs
: 15 mg active combination per kg bodyweight (1ml/10 kg b.w.) i.m., to
be repeated daily
for 3 days according to clinical response.
Non-ruminating calves
: 15 mg active combination per kg bodyweight (1ml/10 kg b.w.) i.m.,
twice daily for the first day followed by once daily for 2 to 4 days
according to clinical response.
Dogs and cats
: 30 mg active combination per kg bodyweight (1ml/5kg b.w.) i.m., may
be
repeated at 12 to 24 hours intervals for 3-7 days according to
clinical response.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
As with all veterinary medicines, the use of this product is
contra-indicated in animals previously
shown to be hypersensitive to the active ingredients
