WHAT DOPROCT
IS USED FOR
Doproct is used to treat:
• Pain, itchiness and inflammation due to the
irritation in the anal e.g. haemorrhoids,
fissures and postoperative haemorrhoid
removal.
HOW DOPROCT
WORKS
Hydrocortisone is categorize under a group
of corticosteroids. It has the properties of
anti-inflammatory and anti-itching.
Benzocaine is a local anaesthetic that are
used to block the sensory nerve endings in
the skin.
Zinc oxide is used for soothing and protect
against haemorrhoids.
Doproct is a product combination of
hydrocortisone acetate, benzocaine and zinc
oxide. These agents help to ease itchiness
and thus allowing healing of the condition.

_When you must not use it_
• You have a history of hypersensitivity to
active ingredients, hydrocortisone acetate,
benzocaine or any other ingredients in
Doproct.
If you are not sure whether you should start
taking this medicine, consult your doctor.

_Before you start to use it _
Tell your doctor if you have allergies to any
other medicines, foods, preservatives or
dyes.
Tell your doctor if you:

• Have traumatised mucosa or sepsis (life
threatening blood poisoning from infection)
in anorectal region.
• Have not undergone adequate examination
on colon, rectum, and anus.
• Have infections
Your doctor will perform an adequate
examination and test to exclude probability
of cancer, infections, allergy and other causal
factors.

Tell your doctor if you are taking any other
medicine, including any that you buy without
a prescription. You may need to use different

Características técnicas

                                DOPROCT SUPPOSITORY & DOPROCT RECTAL OINTMENT
CONTENT:
Each suppository contains: hydrocortisone acetate 7.5mg,
benzocaine 40mg and zinc oxide 250mg.
Each gram of ointment contains
hydrocortisone acetate
5.0mg, benzocaine 10mg & zinc oxide 200mg
DESCRIPTION:
_DOPROCT SUPPOSITORY_: White, obl
ong-shape suppository.
_DOPROCT RECTAL OINTMENT_: White ointment
PROPERTIES
Hydrocortisone
is
produced
in
the
adrenal
cortex
and
belongs
to
the
mild
group
of
corticosteroids
with
anti-
inflammatory and anti-pruritic actions.
Benzocaine
is
a
local
anaesthetic
used
for
surface
anaesthesia to block the sensory nerve endings in the skin or
mucous membranes.
Zinc oxide is mildly astringent and is used topically as a
soothing and protective application for haemorrhoids.
_DOPROCT _
is
a
combination
of
hydrocortisone
acetate,
benzocaine and zinc oxide. The combined properties of
these agents break the itch-scratch-cycle, thus allowing
healing of the condition.
Less than 50% of hydrocortisone is absorbed following rectal
application. Corticosteroids in the circulation are extensively
bound
to
plasma
protein,
mainly
globulin
and
less
to
albumin.
Only
unbound
hydrocortisone
has
pharmacological effects or is metabolised. Corticosteroids
are metabolised mainly in the liver but also in the kidney,
and are excreted in the urine.
Benzocaine is minimally absorbed and therefore relatively
free from systemic side effects or adverse drug interactions.
Onset of action is rapid, with initial effects obtained in about
1 minute and action lasting about 15 - 20 minutes. It is
metabolised hepatically and the metabolites are renally
excreted.
INDICATION
For treatment of pain, itching and inflammation arising from
irritate
d
anorectal
tissues
e.g.
anal
pruritus,
proctitis,
haemorrhoids,
fissures
and
postoperative
haemorrhoidectomy.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
By rectal route only.
_DOPROCT SUPPOSITORY_: Insert 1 suppository in the anal canal 2
times
daily
in
the
morning
and
evening
after
bowel
movement. This product is best used with _ DOPROCT RECTAL _
