Wskazania:

Cefuroxime axetil is an oral prodrug of the bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic cefuroxime, which is resistant to most beta-lactamases and is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. ZINNAT is indicated in adults and children aged two years or older for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Susceptibility to cefuroxime axetil will vary with geography and time, and it should be used in accordance with local official antibiotic prescribing guidelines and local susceptibility data.

WHAT ZINNAT IS TAKEN FOR
Zinnat Tablets contain an antibiotic called cefuroxime, which treats
infections caused by
bacteria, in different parts of the body.
Zinnat Tablets belong to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins.
These antibiotics work
by either killing the bacteria that cause the infections or stopping
their growth.
Zinnat will not work against infection caused by viruses such as colds
or the flu (influenza).
Ask your doctor if you have any questions or if you aren't sure why
Zinnat has been
prescribed for you.
Zinnat is only available with a doctor's prescription.
Zinnat is not addictive.
BEFORE YOU TAKE ZINNAT
_WHEN YOU MUST NOT TAKE IT _
Do not take Zinnat if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Zinnat
or other cephalosporins.
_BEFORE YOU START TAKING ZINNAT _
YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR IF:
you have had any type of allergic reaction to penicillin or
cephalosporin antibiotics.
You may have an increased chance of being allergic to Zinnat if you
are allergic to these
medicines.
you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding
_TAKING OTHER MEDICINES WITH ZINNAT _
Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines including
medicines you buy without a
prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop

1. PRODUCT NAME
ZINNAT 250 mg film-coated tablets
2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION _ _
Each tablet contains cefuroxime 250 mg (as cefuroxime axetil).
EXCIPIENT WITH KNOWN EFFECT
Sodium benzoate (E 211) and Propylene glycol.

3. PHARMACEUTCIAL FORM
White, film-coated, capsule-shaped tablets, 15 mm long and 6.5 mm
wide, plain on
one side and ‘GXES7’ on the other. _ _
4. CLINCAL PARTICULARS _ _
4.1
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS _ _
Cefuroxime axetil is an oral prodrug of the bactericidal cephalosporin
antibiotic

range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
ZINNAT is indicated in adults and children aged two years or older for
the treatment
of infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Susceptibility to
cefuroxime axetil will vary
with geography and time, and it should be used in accordance with
local official
antibiotic prescribing guidelines and local susceptibility data. (see
section 5.1
Pharmacodynamic properties).
Indications include:
Upper respiratory tract infections for example, ear, nose and throat
infections, such
as otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis.
Lower respiratory tract infections for example, pneumonia, , and acute
exacerbations
of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Genito-urinary tract infections for example, pyelonephritis.
Skin and soft tissue infections for example, furunculosis, pyoderma
and impetigo.
Gonorrhoea, acute uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis, and cervicitis.
Cefuroxime is also available as the sodium salt (ZINACEF) for
parenteral
administration. This permits the use of sequential therapy with the
same antibiotic,
when a change from parenteral to oral therapy is clinically indicated.

Where appropriate ZINNAT is effective when used following initial
parenteral
ZINACEF (cefuroxime sodium) in the treatment of pneumonia and acute
exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary
