DESCRIPTION
Pink, opaque lotion.
COMPOSITION
Calamine

PHARMACODYNAMICS
Calamine has a mild astringent action on the skin and is used in
lotions to relieve the discomfort of dermatitis. Astringent is
sometimes needed to reduce the extent of weeping.
Calamine lotion cools the skin by evaporation and is useful for
allaying the pain and swelling of sunburn.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Absorption: Phenol readily penetrates skin, mucous membranes and other
tissues.
INDICATION
For the relief of pruritus such as dermatitis and sunburn.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
There are no data on contraindications in humans.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
For external use only.
MAIN SIDE/ADVERSE EFFECTS
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur occasionally.
SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVERDOSE
Clinical features: Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, epigastric discomfort,
diarrhoea.
Treatment: Symptomatic measures
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Apply on the skin as required and allow to dry.
