The External Drainage and Monitoring System (EDMS)is a complete system for externally draining and monitoring cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and monitoring intracranial pressure (ICP). This assists in reducing ICP; monitoring CSF chemistry, cytology, and physiology; and providing temporary CSF drainage in patients with infected cerebrospinal fluid shunts. A packaged collection of items that includes an externally placed tube that can be attached to an intracranial ventricular catheter to allow sterile drainage and measurement of cerebrospinal fluid.
