BETOPTIC
® 0.25% W/V EYE DROPS SUSPENSION
(betaxolol hydrochloride)
Your medicine is marketed using the above name but will be
referred to as Betoptic Eye Drops throughout the following patient
information leaflet.
READ ALL OF THIS LEAFLET CAREFULLY before you start using this
medicine

This medicine has been prescribed for you. DO NOT PASS IT ON
TO OTHERS. It may harm them, even if their symptoms are the

1. WHAT BETOPTIC EYE DROPS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE
USED FOR
BETOPTIC EYE DROPS belongs to a group of medicines known as
beta blockers.
IT IS USED TO TREAT chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular
hypertension (high pressure in the eye) by reducing the fluid
pressure in your eye (s).
2. BEFORE YOU USE BETOPTIC EYE DROPS
DO NOT USE BETOPTIC EYE DROPS, SUSPENSION...

If you are ALLERGIC to betaxolol, beta-blockers or any of the other
ingredients listed in section 6.

If you have now or have had in the past, RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS
such as SEVERE ASTHMA, SEVERE CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE
BRONCHITIS (severe lung condition which may cause
wheeziness, difficulty in breathing and/or long-standing cough).

If you have a SLOW HEART BEAT, HEART FAILURE or DISORDERS OF
HEART RHYTHM (irregular heart beats).
Ask your doctor for advice.
