Rovamycine ® 1.5 and 3 M.I.U., film coated tablets [Sanofi-Aventis logo] Composition Active ingredient: spiramycin. One tablet contains 1.5 or 3 M.I.U. of spiramycin. Excipients: anhydrous colloidal silica, magnesium stearate, gelifiable maize starch, hydroxypropylcellulose, sodium croscarmellose and microcrystalline cellulose. Coating: hypromellose, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxyde (E 171). Pharmaco-therapeutic class ANTIBACTERIALS / MACROLIDES (J: General antiinfectives for systemic use) Pharmacological properties Spiramycin, an antibiotics from the Macrolide group, has the following antibacterial spectrum: • Normally susceptible species (MIC ≤ 1mg/l) More than 90% of the species strains are susceptible (“S”). Streptococci,Methicillin-sensitive staphylococci, R. equi. B. catarrhalis, B. pertussis, H. pylori, C. Jejuni, C. diphteriae, M. pneumoniae, Coxiella, Chlamydiae, T. pallidum, B. burgdorferi, Leptospirae, Actinomyces, Eubacterium, M. hominis. • Moderately susceptible species The antibiotic is moderately active in vitro. Satisfactory clinical results can be observed when the antibiotic concentration at the infection site is greater than the MIC (CF. “ Pharmacokinetic properties”). N. gonorrhoeae. Vibrio.
