Benzalkonium

Cream contains two active ingredients,
benzalkonium chloride and cetrimide.
Both ingredients have antiseptic and
disinfectant action. Combination with
other
ingredients
give
a
protective
cream.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Yellow colored cream.
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Benzalkonium chloride and cetrimide are both quaternary ammonium
disinfectants with properties typical of cationic surfactants. This
preparation is useful in the prevention and treatment of nappy rash,
acting to suppress the development of ammonia producing
organisms usually associated with this condition.
PHARMACOKINETICS
No data is available on the pharmacokinetics of the active ingredients
of NW Benzalkonium and Cetrimide Cream, when used for the
specified indications. Systemic absorption of the active ingredients
is not envisaged.
INDICATION
For prevention and treatment of nappy rash.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
The nappy area should be washed then dried thoroughly at each change
of nappy. NW Benzalkonium and Cetrimide Cream should be
applied, paying particular attention to folds in the skin.
CONTRAINDICATION
It is inadvisable to apply NW Benzalkonium and Cetrimide Cream to a
baby or adult who has an established hypersensitivity to
benzalkonium chloride, cetrimide or any other ingredients in the
cream. Use should be discontinued if an allergic hypersensitivity
reaction is suspected.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
When used in accordance with the specified indications, systemic
absorption of the specified components is not envisaged and so there
are no special precautions/warnings appropriate to pregnancy and
lactation.
ADVERSE EFFECT/UNDESIRABLE EFFECT
Allergic hypersensitivity reactions may occur in individuals who are
sensitive to one or several components of NW Benzalkonium and
Cetrimide Cream.
