TECHNICAL NOTES
ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS
Flumethasone 0.05 mg/g in 60% medical grade dimethyl sulfoxide gel.
ACTIONS
Flumethasone is a synthetic flucorticoid with marked anti-inflammatory
activity.
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) has analgesic and anti-inflammatory
properties; enhances the absorption of flumethasone into the
affected tissues.
INDICATIONS
Acute musculoskeletal conditions where inflammatory but non-permanent
structural changes exist (e.g. tendinitis, bursitis, carpitis,
arthritic entities including osselets and traumatic injuries). Acute
and chronic non-infectious dermatoses of varying aetiology, to help
control pruritus, irritation and inflammation.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Heart disease, renal dysfunction, diabetes, cataract, osteoporosis and
degenerative eye diseases.
PRECAUTIONS
Caution should be exercised in pregnant animals.
Do not subject animals to vigorous exercise until there is evidence
that there has been a good response to treatment.
The dimethyl sulfoxide component has strong solvent properties; if any
is spilled it should be promptly wiped up.
For external use only.
Do not mix with other medication except on veterinary advice.

TECHNICAL NOTES
SAFETY DIRECTIONS
Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and inhaling vapour. Wear protective
gloves when using or mixing.
FIRST AID
If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.
In Australia phone 13 1126. If skin contact occurs, remove
contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly.
WITHHOLDING PERIODS
Do not use in animals producing food for human consumption.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Some skin irritation may occur following application; this usually
subsides spontaneously.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Topical application only. Clean and dry the area to be treated. Apply
the gel to the affected area using the roll-on applicator 2 or 3
