It kills susceptible bacterial cells by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. INDICATIONS: May be indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the diseases listed below. Culture and susceptibility studies should be performed. Clinical judgement and anticipated bacteriological findings may permit the start of therapy before results of susceptibility studies are obtained. Respiratory tract infections caused by _S. pneumonia, staphylococcus spp._ (beta-lactamase and nonbeta-lactamase (penicillinase) producing). Group A beta-hemolytic _streptococcus spp._, _Klebsiella spp._, and _H.influenzae._ Skin and soft tissue infections, including peritonitis caused by _staphylococcus spp._ (beta- lactamase and nonbeta-lactamase producing). Group A beta-hemolytic _streptococcus spp._, _E. _ _coli, P.mirabilis_, and _Klebsiella spp._ Genitourinary tract infections caused by _E. coli, P.mirabilis_, and _Klebsiella spp._ Septicemia, including endocarditis, caused by _S.pneumoniae,_ _staphylococcus spp._ (beta- lactamase and nonbeta-lactamase producing).
