You may need to read it again. WHAT BEPROSALIC LOTION IS USED FOR? BEPROSALIC LOTION is used for the relief of the inflammatory manifestations of corticosteroid- responsive dryness and thickening of the outer layer of the skin disorder which include psoriasis, chronic atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis and seborrhoeic dermatitis. HOW BEPROSALIC LOTION WORKS? BEPROSALIC LOTION contains medicine called Betamethasone Dipropionate and Salicylic Acid. Betamethasone Dipropionate is a topically active fluorinated corticosteroid which has anti- inflammatory, anti-itching and blood vessel narrowing actions. Salicylic acid has keratolytic (ability to soften the top layer scales of the skin), antibacterial and antifungal actions. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you have any questions about this medicine. BEFORE YOU USE BEPROSALIC LOTION _-When you must not use it_ Do not take BEPROSALIC LOTION if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Betamethasone Dipropionate, other corticosteroids, Salicylic acid, or other salicylates, or any components in the base. NAME AND STRENGTH OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES: Betamethasone dipropionate 0.064% w/v (equiv. to Betamethasone 0.05% w/v) and Salicylic acid 2% w/v. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: A colourless and slightly viscous solution. Other ingredients: Isopropyl alcohol, Methylparaben, Sodium hydroxide and Purified water. PHARMACODYNAMICS : Betamethasone dipropionate is a topically active fluorinated corticosteroid which has anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. Salicylic Acid has keratolytic properties, as well as bacteriostatic and fungicidal actions. PHARMACOKINETICS : Topical corticosteroids have anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. When administered topically, particularly under occlusive dressing or when the skin is broken sufficient corticosteroid may be absorbed to give systemic effects. Corticosteroids are extensively bound to plasma proteins. Only unbound corticosteroids has pharmacological effects or is metabolised. They are metabolised mainly in the liver, also in the kidney and are excreted in the urine. Salicylic Acid has keratolytic properties. It produces slow and painless destruction of the epithelium. When administered topically to large areas of the body, it may cause symptoms of acute systemic salicylate poisoning. INDICATIONS : For the relief of the inflammatory mainfestations of hyperkeratotic and dry corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses which include psoriasis, chronic atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis and seborrhoeic dermatitis. CONTRAINDICATIONS : Hypersensitivity to Betamethasone dipropionate, other corticoster- oids, Salicylic Acid or other Salicylates or any component in the base. Topical corticosteroids are contraindicated in most viral infections of the skin and also tuberculosis and acne rosacea. DRUG INTERACTIONS : Unknown.
