Amoxicillin 500 mg capsules

QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION
Each hard capsule contains amoxicillin – 500 mg, as amoxicillin
trihydrate.
For a list of excipients, see section 6.1.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Hard capsule.
500 mg: hard, opaque gelatin capsules with maroon cup and pink body.
The capsule contents is
white to cream powder.

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by drug sensitive
organisms:

infections of upper respiratory tract (tonsillopharyngitis, sinusitis,
acute otitis media);

infections
of
lower
respiratory
tract
(acute
bacterial
bronchitis,
aggravated
chronic
bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia);

urogenital infections (pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis,
endometritis, cervicitis;
gonorrhea);

abdominal infections (cholangitis, cholecystitis);

Helicobacter
pylori
eradication
in
subjects
with
duodenal
or
gastric
ulcer
(always
combined with other drugs);

skin or soft tissue infections (rose, impetigo, secondary-infected
dermatoses);

leptospirosis, listeriosis;

Lyme disease;

gastrointestinal infections (enterocolitis, typhoid, dysentery,
salmonellosis (caused by
ampicillin-sensitive Salmonella typhi), Salmonella carriage;

prevention of bacterial endocarditis in surgical procedures in oral
cavity and upper
respiratory tract.

POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The dosage range of Amoxicillin is very wide. The size of the dose,
frequency of administration
and duration of treatment should be adjusted according to the disease
and the patient.

The drug is generally prescribed at 500 mg t.i.d. or 500 mg – 1000
mg b.i.d. In sinusitis,
community-acquired
pneumonia
and
other
severe
infections,
500-1000
mg
dose
t.i.d.
is
recommended. Maximum daily dose is 6 g.
