PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
White, round, biconvex, chewable, mint flavoured tablet.
CONTENT
Each tablet contains Simethicone 120 mg
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Simethicone is a liquid dimethicone activated with finely divided
silicon dioxide to enhance
the defoaming properties of the silicon. Simethicone acts in the
stomach and intestines by
altering
the
surface
tension
of
gas
and
mucus
bubbles
enabling
them
to
coalesce.
Coalescence of gas bubbles accelerates the passage of gas through
belching or passing of
flatus.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Simethicone is pharmacologically inert and is not absorbed from the
gastrointestinal tract
nor does it interfere with gastric secretion or absorption of
nutrients. Simethicone is excreted
unchanged in faeces.
INDICATION
Air-X 120 Tablet is indicated for the relief of the discomfort and
pain caused by excessive gas
in the stomach and intestines as in flatulence, dyspepsia, meteorism,
peptic ulcer, spastic or
irritable colon, diverticulitis and post-operative gaseous distention.
Air-X 120 Tablet also can
be used as an antifoaming agent prior to gastroscopy and endoscopic
examination to
enhance visualization and prior to radiography of bowel to reduce gas
shadows.
RECOMMENDED DOSE
Patients are required to chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing
them to enable the
medicine work faster and more completely.
Adult: 1 tablet after meals and at bedtime as needed. It is
recommended that the total dose
should not exceed 480mg (4 tablets) in each 24 hour period.
The dosage is adjusted according to the age and symptoms of patients.
In preparation for radiography, gastroscopy and endoscopy, 80 - 240mg
of simethicone
tablet has been reported to be used alone or as adjunctive therapy in
bowel preparation on
the evening before and on the day of procedure to reduce intraluminal
gas and to enhance
the visibility and efficacy of the said procedures.

Air-X 120 Tablet should not be taken by patients who have previous
allergic reaction to
simethicone
