Best Practices for Handling, Treating and Storing Treated Seed
VIBRANCE PREMIUM should be used as an integral part of a potato
disease management
strategy. This strategy includes the use of high quality seed and the
incorporation of cultural
techniques such as crop rotation and optimal harvest time for tubers
to minimise disease
development, proper handling of tubers to avoid unnecessary bruising,
application of the
seed piece treatment to clean seed pieces with a properly calibrated
application system,
minimising total application volumes at treatment, rapid and complete
drying of potatoes
before entering storage, and management and sanitation of equipment
and storage areas
to reduce inoculum including avoidance of storage conditions that lead
to free moisture or
condensation. Treatment of highly mechanically scarred or damaged
seed, or seed known
to be of low vigour and poor quality, may result in reduced
germination and/or reduction of
seed and seedling vigour. Some varieties are particularly susceptible
to storage disease
development. Information about the susceptibility of the variety being
treated should be
obtained and extra checks and precautions employed if necessary.

Disease control may be reduced or inadequate in
situations where tubers are planted into heavily
infested soil. In these situations, use of an approved
in-furrow
fungicide
(eg
Amistar
®
250
SC)
is
recommended
in
addition
to
treating
seed
with
VIBRANCE
PREMIUM.
Best
results
will
be
obtained where VIBRANCE PREMIUM is used in an
integrated program aimed at reducing seed and soil
borne diseases.
