Date of revision What MOMATE OINTMENT is used for MOMATE OINTMENT is used to reduce inflammation and itchiness caused by certain skin problems that are responsive to corticosteroids. How MOMATE OINTMENT works MOMATE OINTMENT belongs to a group of medicines called topical corticosteroids Mometasone furoate have anti- inflammatory, anti-itching and blood vessel narrowing action. Before you use MOMATE OINTMENT - When you must not use it If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to mometasone furoate, other steroids or to any of the other ingredients of MOMATE OITMENT. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. - Before you start to use it Pregnancy and breast-feeding You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, before you start using MOMATE OINTMENT. Do not use on pregnant women in large amounts or for prolonged periods of time. This medicine is secreted into breast milk in quantities not likely to have deleterious effect on the infant. Nevertheless, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the medicine usage. - Taking other medicines Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other creams, ointments or lotions or taking any other medicines. This includes any that you get without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. How to use MOMATE OINTMENT - How much to use Always use MOMATE OINTMENT exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. PANTONE BLACK PROCESS C SUPERSEDES ARTWORK CODE: PE57437 PANTONE SHADE ICONGRAPHICS CODE: PHARMACODE : COMPOSITION Momate Ointment Mometasone Furoate USP 0.1% w/v In a base q.s DESCRIPTION: A printed carton containing an insert and a printed aluminum collapsible tube containing white semi-Solid Cream PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Ointment CLINICAL PARTICULARS THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w Ointment is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) and atopic dermatitis. POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION _Adults, including elderly patients and children:_ A thin film of Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w Ointment should be applied to the affected areas of skin once daily. Use of topical corticosteroids in children or on the face should be limited to the least amount compatible with an effective therapeutic regimen and duration of treatment should be no more than 5 days. CONTRAINDICATIONS Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w is contraindicated in facial rosacea, acne vulgaris, skin atrophy, perioral dermatitis, perianal and genital pruritis, napkin eruptions, bacterial (e.g. impetigo, pyodermas), viral (e.g. herpes simplex, herpes zoster and chickenpox, verrucae vulgares, condylomata acuminata, molluscum contagiosum), parasitical and fungal (e.g. candida or dermatophyte) infections, varicella, tuberculosis, syphilis or post- vaccine reactions. Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w should not be used on wounds or skin which is ulcerated. Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w should not be used in patients who are sensitive to mometasone furoate or to other corticosteroids or to any of the excipients listed in the formulation. SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE If irritation or sensitisation develop with the use of Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w, treatment should be withdrawn and appropriate therapy instituted.
